Be it for tribe, nation, or race, barring people from the freedom to do any harmless thing they please is Oppression. Repressing half of ALL people, is an Atrocity. Wherever people are denied the freedom to learn, that entire civilization is likewise deprived of their contributions, condemned to the foulest of ignorance. Ignorance that, in turn, breeds no end of delusional beliefs and justifications for even more harm. To forbid women from, for example, contributing to the study and practice of the military arts, merely because they may be more physically lean than a male, is a gross folly. It is a costly and ignorant conceit, both at the expense of the individuals denied participation, and the society at large which is pointlessly prevented from their potential contributions. Such daft bigotry truly harms everyone involved. Likewise are the common males, while perhaps flattered by manipulative conceptions of honour and immature ideas of manliness, they tend to be reduced to little more than cannon-fodder for the wars of the patriarchal rich. It is telling that only on the brink of running out of such conscripted boys, do most nations then allow the temporary enfranchisement of women in the basic right of self-defense. Even casually trivial domination, such as traditions of gendered dress, and social segregation, are an artificially enforced limitation. So too is the illogical practice of patrilineal name-taking. Some feminists in the Modern Age act as though hyphenating their father’s and a husband’s last names is some great act of empowerment, yet is that not just Double the proclamation of male ownership? Name-changes being expected in marriage, why not find a partner respectful enough to create a brand New name together instead? Further, any appeals to Nature as justification for oppression are either logically dishonest or an open disregard of Human autonomy. One cannot use ideas of human exceptionalism when attempting to justify the enslavement of other animals, then turn around and use the survival-plight of those animals to demean other humans. We either measure ourselves against the other Earthlings, in which case we must acknowledge the less violent, more egalitarian examples in our cousins as an evolutionary success worthy of emulation, or we rely solely upon our much-vaunted sapience, including the ability to choose to invent Rights for freedom from oppression. One such example is access to Contraception, being a most decisive liberation from the biological survival-struggle. It is this knowledge which frees us from the savagery of Ignorance which brings the autonomy of Choice to an otherwise primitive and mindless natalism, that is otherwise exacted at the total expense of our female citizenry and the wider quality of civil life and social resources. Without the understanding of and access to contraception, entire civilizations are trapped in a miserably ceaseless and bewilderingly senseless demand for Limitless self-replication. Because of this do the dogmatic enemies of Reason and Enlightenment attempt its suppression. But the worst of all forms of domination is the condemnation of females (half of all human beings) to a life of nothing more than breeding, or the raising of others. To be not only so limited but also so forced is the worst of all possible obscenities, and corrupts the society as much as it harms the victims. Whether indoctrinated or forced to accept such an exploited fate, it is nothing short of enslavement. It is the worst perversion of our most basic human Dignity. Yet still, such crimes continue to taint the accomplishments of many civilizations to this very day.
